Professionals looking for a medical sales career will be interested to know that Biomet Incorporated has expanded its portfolio of medical device products available for sale on the U.S. market.

The Indiana-based company recently announced that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared two of its surgical applications, including the E1 humeral bearing and the Comprehensive Segmental Revision System (SRS).

Dr. John Sperling, an orthopedic surgeon from Rochester, Minnesota, said the products are novel treatments in hip, knee and shoulder surgeries and can be used to help cancer patients dealing with bone loss from chemotherapy treatments .

"The outstanding wear characteristics and proven track record of E1(R) bearings will provide a tremendous benefit to patients undergoing reverse shoulder arthroplasty," Spearling added. "The Comprehensive(R) SRS is a breakthrough in shoulder and elbow arthroplasty design. This system is specifically designed to address humeral bone deficiency in revision and oncologic settings."
